April 21, 2021 - Are you new to our award-winning shade control and automation system, IntelliFlex® I/O?
This complete control solution for motorized shades is flexible and expandable to the size and complexity of a project. I/O uses networked intelligent motors and provides communication between devices so your shades are always where they should be. No matter the application.
As usage continues to grow, we are expanding our IntelliFlex® I/O video library to help you quickly and easily understand the system. In the latest series of videos, Draper shade automation specialist Nathan Bowman takes you through wall switches and the motor limit tool, and how to use them.
IntelliFlex® I/O Single Zone Wall Switch
The IntelliFlex® I/O Single Zone Wall Switch isn’t just another toggle switch. This smart input device can be customized to operate roller shades and Venetian blinds. It can control an individual motor or a group of motors with a single touch. Click here (https://youtu.be/7s095sZ1y0U) to watch this overview of the single zone switch.
In addition to the overview, Bowman presents two new how-to videos:
- Setting Limits Using an IntelliFlex® I/O Single Zone Wall Switch
- Factory Reset Using an IntelliFlex® I/O Single Zone Wall Switch
IntelliFlex® I/O Dual Zone Wall Switch
The IntelliFlex® I/O Dual Zone Wall Switch is similar to the single zone switch. It, too, can be customized to operate roller shades and Venetian blinds. This switch, however, can be programmed to control two individual zones with a single touch. Each zone can be configured to control any number of roller shade motors in an IntelliFlex® I/O network.

Programming an IP Gateway (IPG) for the IntelliFlex® I/O System
IP Gateways provide access to all of the connected IntelliFlex® I/O devices and allow any number of the networks to be joined together for medium- to large-scale projects. With a built-in two port network switch, the IP Gateway can be connected directly to a building network, or daisy chained to other IPGs to form a stand-alone network.
In just over four minutes, Bowman will show how simple it is to connect an IP Gateway to the network, then program the gateway. Click here (https://youtu.be/eC9YxLU4JDk) for the video.
Programming an AV Gateway for the IntelliFlex® I/O System
The IntelliFlex® I/O A\V Gateway features simple integration with existing 3rd party control systems. The gateway supports flexible RS-232 and RS-485 serial interfaces, as well as basic contact closure, low voltage, and IR inputs. The LCD allows programming of serial groups.
IntelliFlex® I/O Motor Limit Tool
The IntelliFlex® I/O Motor Limit Tool is used to set rotational directions of motors and program upper and lower travel limits, and preset stops for individual or groups of Draper® intelligent motors within the network. In a series of videos Bowman demonstrates how to use the tool to accomplish a range of tasks, including copying and pasting settings for quicker programming of all the motors in the network at one time. Videos include:
- Using the IntelliFlex® I/O Motor Limit Tool
- Setting Preset Stops on an IntelliFlex® I/O Network with Motor Limit Tool
- Copying and Pasting Limits for IntelliFlex® I/O Networks with Motor Limit Tool
- Advanced Copy and Paste for IntelliFlex® I/O Networks with Motor Limit Tool
